Default Recon and Honda availability questions

I'm thinking of maybe buying a Recon. The local Honda guy says that the factory that makes their plastics burned to the ground last year and there may be some shortages of quads. Anyone know anything about that? I'm also curious about the Recon. I just read in an ATV magazine that Honda made some changes to get more power from the Recon. I'm assuming that they went with the bigger valves and higher compression off of the 250EX. The comment was in an article about smaller quads, and they were talking about how the change was made in response to the Ozark. Can anyone confirm this? I find too many errors in magazines to take what they are saying as 100% accurate. The same magazine, in a different issue, listed the Hawkeye as having a 388 pound dry weight and that the 4wd version was $3900 out the door. Quite a bit better than what the local Polaris shop has!!!!

They changed the combustion chamber, improved the suspension, altered the ergonimics a little, and what ever else I can't remember. Essentially they made the engine identical to the 250EX. Can't remember what year they did all that...........
