Dead Recon!!!
#1
Well it was only a matter of time before my neighbor ruined the recon which has been a reliable quad even though it was beaten up pretty good...It is an 03 recon and well we were riding yesterday when all the sudden it wouldn't start and was smoking when it was trying to start...So when you try and give it gas it dies due to no compression and his rings are shot from what I could see from trying to start it...I don't think they will be taking it to the Honda Stealer since the ones around here stink so I was wondering if anyone has the torque specs on the head, valve clearances, ring gaps, compression, and any other necessary info...I am also going to be honing out the cylinder unless it is done for, but I need a ft lb torque wrench and some other tools before I can pull the engine...any help would be greatly appreciated thanks.

Yea I know. I know the procedure and all for the valves and how to get to it since I am used to my ds and stuff I just have to get some of the specs and other info before I start and see how badly it has damaged the cylinder walls and how bad the rings are.

Hey recon just asking or if anyone else wants to chime in when I get the rings off and gap them would just honing it out a little and putting the rings on the piston keeping them at the std ring gap be fine or am I going to need to file them down or should I get a new cylinder it is an 03 and problably has some good wear because I don't want it to be having any ring leakage and will be using a micrometer to measure the cylinder thickness etc or is there a standard measurement that you could tell me that a cylinder should be compared to the rings and if it will need to be bored...Also I should lube up the piston and slide it back into the cylinder correct...I just want to double check myself...Thanks

I was going to help him, but in the first post he called me a Stealer.
( I work for a Honda dealer )
I have all the info he needs right here next to me.
I guess if the respect would have been there I would help
Just for the record WE ARE NOT STEALERS !!
