My 1999 300ex's idle is really high. What do i do

 

well if you have a manual it should tell you where the idle screw is. it should be a gold screw on the side of your carberator turn the screw out to turn it down i belive but before you do this let it warm up to get an accurate idle.

Yepper the best bet is to get a manual.
I had a friend that always needed help and not to many had answered to his calls.
Natch I could not help him since he had an odd way about him.

Ever since he got a manual and learned to enjoy the reading!
I have not heard from him very much after.
He was always out riding every chance he got.

I have the Cymer manual and I cant find anything about an idle screw

Yeah, your idle screw is too far in and you may also, have a clog somwhere in your hoses for the gas. Check our your filters and make sure there isnt any clogs and if there is replace them. If you take apart the carb. carefully there is a gold screw turn it out a little bit i can get you a copy if you need one of the manual.

 

I got the idle down and need to know how to tell if it is to low

 

You can tell when it starts and it stalls if it doesnt but it idles low. then your pretty good

 

if its to low it wont run or it will only run for a few seconds but when you do get your idle right it will be able to run by it self but you only have to give it gas like once or twice then it warms it self up. i think the rpms specs for a good idle are between 400-1000.
