Default 450R carb on 400ex

Bought a 450R carb off ebay. Want to put it on my EX. Just wondering what I should expect and if its worth the $ or should i just auction it off again.

Also, any suggestions on jetting? How will the bigger carb effect jetting. I have a dyno jet kit for my EX do i need step it down with those sizes or start with the 450 jet.

Anyone? I'm really after jetting advice for this thing. Can anyone tell me how a bigger carb will effect jetting. Do I need slightly bigger jet? Smaller? same size? Or start out with stock 450 Jetting?

did you get the hot start cable with it? will it fit into the same intake boot? its only 2mm bigger with a flat slide instead of the piston type. since you have alittle bigger engine bore already if it fits try runing it the way it is. then check your plug just like you were jetting it any other time. i don't know if i'd put that jet kit in it just yet because the carb will flow more air with the bigger bore.

It is suppose to fit in my boot. I did not get the hot start cable. Do I need it and since I'm foreign to 450's what does it do/how does it work.

i thought i was used for decompression the make it easier to start but was then told it was something to do with the card, air/fuel mixture. but i just did a little bit of reading and it is for decompression. so don't worry about it, that was my mistake. you know to check the jets once you install it, right.

O ya. That what I was after, a starting place. Start with stock 450 Jet or use the kit to size it down. Also, needle position. There are alot of factors to take in to tune this baby in and I was just looking for suggestions to cut my tune time down.
