2001 250 rancher-1st time owner
The Rancher is called a 350, but actually is only a 329cc. If you actually have a 250, that would be called a Recon.
On the left hand (rear) brake lever, there is a red button marked R. Depress the button first, then holding the button down pull and hold the brake lever. From neutral, downshift once into reverse.
Pretty scary when you buy a used machine and it doesn't have an owner's manual. Probably means the previous owner lost it and never did any maintenance in all these years.......
Best to do all the maintenance fresh on a new machine! You have no idea what the previous owner did or did not do!!! This is especually true for valve adjustments!
Go to the dealer and order an owner's manual and a service manual. I think you can also order them off the Honda web site as well.
