I need some help for a buddys quad i am trying to fix, the shop in connecticut has tried to clean & rebuild the carb but it didn't last long. Now they say it needs a new one for $400.00. I don't want to pay that much. I have tried all kind of used sites and ebay but it seems all hit and miss to me as far as getting the right one. First i need to know if anyone knows for sure exactly which carb is on this model, second does anyone know of a web site that might have one. Thanks for any info.

I have a 91 trx250x and over the 16yrs I have done some mods to it.
Carb is always something you gotta get to know.. 87-92 trx250x and up to 2000 trx300ex have same keihin 36mm with carb Identification QB01A(A). Differnce is 250x has #35 pilot and #125 main jet and the trx300ex have #38 pilot and #122 main jet. These are stock jettings.
What is the 250x doing to make them or you think the card is bad?
I cant believe I have had my little RED for 16yrs, and to be honest I woulnt give her up for any other..

First it sat for 15 years , then when my friend tried to use it the tank /and carb was full of rust. I sent it to the shop they said the tank and carb had to be cleaned, the 2nd time we went out it died out and would not restart, i got it back and put a new plug in it and it started right up but when you would give it the gas it would die right out, idle fine. I bought it back to the shop and they said it might need a new carb, today i talked to the guy who worked on it and he checked to see if there was any spark, he said it looked weak, but that was out in the bright sun. I'll let you know what they say, either way i am not spending $400.00 on a new carb.

Make sure all jets are clean, not clogged. You can get a used carb on ebay for pretty cheap. Or buy a rebuild kit for it.
