I am going to purchase a quad very soon. I have been pricing the YFZ450, Raptor 700 and the new outlaw 525 with the KTM engine. All of which are a considerable amount of money more than the honda. I know the reputation of honda and have had a few. But is this quad really as fast as they say it is? Will it run with all of the above quads? I dont mind putting money into it and I know it wont be insane fast stock, especially not with stock breathing and jets. I just want to know I am getting a good fast reliable quad for the money.

YFZ450 and 450R in a race will come down to the driver. There is not enough difference (power wise) in these two to notice. Most reviews I see say that the YFZ has a little better handling. It comes down to what kind of riding you plan on doing whether you want the 450's or 700.
The 700 makes more power than the 450's stock. The 700 will do better in trails because it does well at lower RPM's where the 450's want to be reved and unwound.
I did'nt think that the 450R had much price difference compared to the YFZ but, if so they are very comparable, it would be hard to justify much price difference.

The 450R dominates the big desert endurance races, like Baja and Vegas to Reno. You know...get on the quad and ride 1000 miles non-stop. If you aren't on a Honda, you probably won't even finish the race much less win. Is that reliable enough for you???
There is a lot of hop up potential in the stock engine! And "fast" doesn't mean a thing unless you have a chassis and suspension that can handle it...and this machine can handle it. The HRC kit is the best mod you can do on this machine.....
As for second choices, if you mostly ride the track then get the Yamaha 450. If you mostly ride trails, then maybe the Raptor 700.
