Default rancher at oil check question ???????????

If it's the 2007 model Honda TRX 400 AT fully automatic Hydomechanical contiuosly variable with electronic controls , it has a 397cc air cooled OHV dry sump engine it doesn't share the same oil with the tranny ; so i'm guessing you would have to check the trans fluid when it's hot like an automotive auto transmission ! Honda used this type tranny in their motorcycle's year's ago , and it just didn't go over well with bike rider's back then so they stopped using them because rider's loved shifting the gear's manualy ; how ever this tranny has been revamped and improved with the electronic variable shifting on them now ! Some love them and wouldn't go back to a manual shift again , i haven't riden one and don't know anyone who has ; but i've heard and read a few post's from at least one member who didn;t like it ! Something about them not being Honda tuff , and that the tranny was to weak ; but i wouldn't let that deter me from buying one myself ! My first atv was a 86' Honda TRX 350 Foreman 4x4 it was built like tank and i rode it like one , ii sold it to my brother in Nov. 2005 and he ride's it almost every day ; the last time i rode it whitch was about a month ago it still ran and drove as it did when i bought it new ! I'm a bilateral amputee , lost both leg's just below the knee's , when i bought the Honda i had to mount a hand control to the foot shifter to be able to shift the gear's with my hand ! I bought a 2006 Arctic Cat 400 FIS 4x4 with the Suzuki 376cc powered Engine/Duramatic Belt driven clutch transmission , i still miss the shifting untill i go on a long all day ride it doesn't take a few day's of soreness to realize how good a fully automatic tranny is worth ! Sorry for the novel and i hope i'm right in telling you to check the trans oil when hot ; but i'm pretty sure that's the right procedure and if i'm wrong someone will jump in and correct me ! Happy Trail's and be safe when riding . ..........................williebee
