whoever said the yz250f is demolishing the 125 class has no clue what they are talking about. First of all the 125 has several more hp, plus weighs almost 20 pounds less. All the races ive seen have ended up with this thing getting beat. As for the bigger bikes, the KTM520 cant even touch a 250. So what is that telling you? All these companies will keep building their 4 stroke beasts making them bigger and heavier but will never oust the power of the 2.

why would you want electric start. they suck. kick start is the way to go. No battary, and that cuts out alot of the electric crap thats like 20 -25 pounds on crap that you quad wont' have.

No top mx racers winning on 4 strokes eh.Doug henry won the out door championship on a yz400 when it yery first came out.I watched bike week on speed vision on the other day and they where testing the new yz250f and siad it smokes the 125 every wheere on the track. It even sounded like a 2 stroke. It's rev limiter is set at 13,500 rpm.

4 stroke are better...they just don't have the good riders (yet!!).
Doug Dubach won the canadian MX championship...his ride? 426 YZF (I saw some races...he could smoke Morgan's 250KX (which has the reputation to have quite some power) in any acceleration).
The Honda 450 CRF won its first race in Japan (with Tortelli onboard), while the 250 4stroke took 1st in the 125cc class.
Where I don't see 4 strokes beat 2 strokes is supercross. There is grip, and you need very immediate power, a 4 stroke has that everywhere, a 2 stroke has it in the powerband. The top riders have no trouble staying in that powerband...normal riders do.
the 250 4 strokes are better than 125 2 stroke, simply because they have more grip, power delivery is much more linear.
I'm afraid 2 strokes are gonna disappear.

jviper is absolutely correct...
the four stroke is currently beating all of the 125cc two strokes, sorry to say people...
you all need to keep up with the times. in the january issue of dirt bike they state that the four consistently beats the two stoke hands down and the buzz around the ama is that they might declare the four illegal. people cried when the ama allowed 426 fours into the 250 two stroke class, and this is no different.
and this will be no exception. yamaha's rule

Yes every mx mag out there say's the same thing the new yz250f smokes the 125 2strokes in every way except trying to start it cold or hot.Better suspension powerband, brakes, everything! However there's talk about disqualifing it from competing in the 125 class. They say it power is equal to a modded 125 so I gues if you were to mod the 250 it would be unfair advantage.Anyway 2strokes are cool and I love them but look what yamaha has done with fourstokes in the last 4yrs so just think what they'll be like in the future 5yrs.I do believe it bound to happen that they'll eventualy make a fourstokes power and displacement equal to 2stokes same power and displacement. It's the weight of the motors that will never match! later

Lucky Jeremy McGrath move to the 250cc from the 125cc before these 250 4 strokes smoked him.I hope there are no 4 strokes ready to blow him away in the 250 class now.
