84 Honda TRX200 electric start
#1
The electric start will not work. When I press the start button I hear the starter switch assembly click and buzz. I have replaced the starter switch assembly and the inhibiter relay, but nothing changed. I used a test light to check the starter motor connection for fire when pressing the start button, but nothing except the buzzing. When I disconnected the cable at the starter I have fire and only get a click from the starter assembly switch.
Anyone have any ideas?

It's better to test with a volt meter (because a test light will light with just a few volts) a buzzing sounds like low battery or low power ..
I'd get a volt meter , use a good ground (-) then I'd work backwards by first putting the positive (+) on the starter power cable nut .. If it reads 12v then the trouble is with the starter (brushes , dirty commutator bars etc.) if no power then the (+ starter) side of the solenoid then check the (+ battery) side of the solenoid
If you need wiring diagram of shop manual sections just post when you need ..

Thanks HondaMechanic
I did as you suggested and got the following results...
0v @ starter cable nut
0v @ solenoid (+ starter side)
11v @ solenoid (+ battery side) but dropped when starter button pressed.
Looks like it might be the battery...that's what I get for "thinking" I had a fully charged battery. Charging battery now...stay tuned!
