new to this board and looking for a little help. have an 86 honda fourtrax 350 4x4.
engine was stripped and rebuilt this winter. put together and it run like a dream for about 200 miles. i was riding it on the weekend, it was running great untill it felt like the carb was on full. it stalled itself out and will not restart. getting fuel and air. good spark. checked cam timing and it is was out so i adjusted it and it seems to keep going out of time. replaced the chain tensioner but that does not help. any ideas?? thanks in advance

 

Did you replace the cam chain also ..?

 

no the chain was not replaced. do you know if there is a master link in those chains??

 

No they are an endless chain ... It didn't jump enough for the valves to touch the piston did it .. Did you check the valve clearances , if a valve/s are bent there will be more than 0.08 mm (0.003 in) valve clearance ..

 

where are you measuring the valve clearance??

 

What is your email address and I will email you the maintenance section from the 1986-93 TRX350D PDF shop manual .. It will explane valve adjustment ..
