Default Starting problems-buzzing noise HELP!

I just bought a used 2001 Honda Rancher 350. It ran god for a few days and now when I try to start All I get is a buzzing noise from the battery box. Specificaly the round electronic device tied to the positive of the battery. Any ideas?

That is the solinoid .. Have you checked all the connections , and if they are good you should check the charging system and load test the battery ...

You'll have to check with a volt meter there should be battery voltage on the battery side of the solinoid and battery voltage on the starter side when the starter button is pushed .. Also check the solinoid power wire yellow/red should have battery voltage when the starter button is pushed and the light green/red wire should be checked with an ohm meter with the bike in neutral..

I will check the voltage to the solinoid as you have instructed and should I assume when you say check the solinoid power wire yellow/red should have battery voltage when the starter button is pushed ( this would be to the negative side of the battery correct?)
And the light green/red wire should be checked with an ohm meter with the bike in neutral..
What an I checking ohm's (continuity?) to? Or should I be looking for a specific OHM value between the light green/red wire to what? ( I would assume this will prove the soloniod is good)

If you push the starter button and the solenoid makes noise, then the condition of the wires in question are fine. put a booster battery on it and see if it cranks.
From what you describe you simply have a dead battery.
Do you have a battery charger? if so put it on for a couple hours.
Your making a simple problem much larger then it is.

Just to let you know it was the battery, your email info helped greatly. Once I put a 50 amp quick start charger it kicked right over. On my way to the battery store. Thanks again
