400ex?

ok after waiting for a looong time my dad is finally going to get me a quad for my 15 birthday but im not entirely sure what i want...
my dad lives less the 10 mins away from MotoTownUSA which is the largest indoor track in the world, so we went to check it out and i watched a seemingly stock honda (i think it was a 400ex but it could have possibly been a 450r since they look so much alike) and it seemed that he wasnt making the jumps completely and only making it about half way.
I dont know if he was just taking it easy or just didnt have the power to make it off the sharp turns fast enough to make the jump.
I dont want to get this quad and have to be modified for it to make all the jumps completely. I know that its not going to be faster then the kawasaki and the suzuki's stock but im not going out there and racing im just going for fun and practice
and also im not just going on the tracks i want something that will handle the trails good also

Agree with ranger. Come on woody break it up a little bit next time bud. You'll get more responses.
As sdm111 said. The EX should have the guts to get around the track fairly well and will really show off in the trails. When you get tired of it get a good after market filter, an exhaust, and jet it properly and it will really wake it up.

Hey woody you write it like you want to.These guys must think their english teachers.I think the ex is getting outdated. You need one of these good-handling water-cooled atvs. The new 450s are great atvs. But dont get one unless your an experienced rider.

ya thats another thing i was looking at since it seems that all the faster quads are all water-cooled but also im getting a really nice deal but if i can get a good deal from a suzuki dealer im probably guna go with the z400 but if not ill go with the 400ex since my dad is probably getting the same as me we will be saving about 2,000 on brand new 07's

Why should water cooled make a difference?
Ya the 400 is not the best handling machine but if your just out having fun you won't know the difference anyway. Also, 450's SUCK on trail rides. Engine gets to hot and it's way to high geared.

the 400 ex is a great bike in my opinion. but if you havent had very much experience with a sports bike i would prefer something smaller. Maybe a 300ex i have had 2 of them and i love em. i had a 98' and now i have a 00' and i am only 15 to. ive rode bigger bikes like the 700 raptor. But if your not very experienced definately start smaller than a 400ex so you can get use to it and you dont hurt yourself or the bike. Good Luck
