Anyone tired of hearing about 750ex?

I am tired of hearing these posts about a Honda ex with a HUGE motor in it. Like I said before, Honda has to sell these bikes to someone! The only way they are going to sell alot of them (and make any money) is to target the average back yard trail rider.
I have been riding since I was 15 (I'm 30 now), started on a CR80 and advanced to 2 stroke quads (Tecate4, Quadzilla), and consider myself an above average rider, and I think the average rider has everything they need in the 400ex to go fast on the trails. If the average rider thinks they are going to use all the power of a Raptor in normal trail riding, they are fooling themselves! The only people who can use the power to it's full advantage are at the pro level, and I don't think very many people on this forum are at pro level. The only other people who could use that power live in the desert, or in the dunes but most of the country do not have dunes and deserts in their back yard.
I think a 750ex would be a waste of money and a waste of time for Honda to build. Even if they did build one, I would not buy it, because it is a waste of my money to buy a bike that is beyond my means and riding ability. If you think a bigger, faster bike is going to make you a better rider and you are going to whip up on everyone esle because of the bike, you are wrong! You are just using HP to compensate for you riding ability, and you are eventually going to get hurt.
If you took two average riders, put one on a Raptor, and one on a 400ex, they would have almost identicle lap times in the woods. A lot of times more power can hurt you instead of helping you.
I am not trying to bash the Raptor, I was just using it for an example, nor was I sticking up for the 400ex, they both are great bikes. All I am saying is why spend a 1,000 or 2,000 more just to be able to say "I have the fastest qaud made!", but when you get away from your friends, you will say to yourself, " it's too much for me, I can't ride it the way I want to, I'm in debt and broke!".
Be smart, put your "Honda Pride" aside, they have a great bike and remember they have to make a bike that they can sell to everyone, not to just a few people with lots of money and big ego's!
PS: Honda did miss the boat by not adding reverse!

I always laugh when people say," I raced my "x" against his "y" and beat him by about 4 lengths." What kind of race? How far? How long? Who's the better rider? Better yet.....Who cares???!!!???!!!
Unless you pay the fees and sign up for a AMA sanctioned race, it is not worth bragging about. Enter any organized event and you will find out how SLOW(and I mean SLOW) you really are.
I race. I win some, and I lose some. But I don't get beat by other racer's machines. I get beat from my own mistakes.
New machines and new technology are great. But they don't win you championships.....
(training for a race is a never-ending battle)

I think they would sell a ton of them. Riders want the most power they can get, usable or not. Look at the guys that pump money into their street rods, I've seen some with 6-700HP. They know they'll never use it, but they know they have it. I guess it's an ego thing. Look how many loyal Honda owners sold their 400's when the Raptor came out. Now imagine a bike with the same or more power that didn't break everytime you rode it, that would be sweet. I'd be in for one.

i guess that your needs for power will depend on what you like to do. I ride with hardcore trail riders and racers and there is no such thing as to much power the way we ride. IT also depends on the kind of trails you ride. I can top my ex out on the trails that we ride and no they are far from being straight. You can only use that power if the chassis set up allows. there is a such thing as overpowering, (spinning out in a corner). 750ex, i don't know but everything deserves its shot at fame.

What kind of trails do you ride? Would you describe them to us?
I have often wondered where people on this forum ride with all the talk about top speed.
I ride in an old gravel pit that also has a woods with a creek. The trails are narrow (some just the width of the quad) and sometimes have small fallen trees you need to lift your front end over by pulling a small wheelie. The only place we use our top end is climbing the gravel hills and gravel roads near our home, but the roads aren't much fun, too flat and boring after a while.

Where I ride is a bunch of iron ore mining pits, dumps, and gravel pits, all connected by old mining roads. You can go as fast as any quad will let you go down a wide, smooth dirt road between some places. Others it is a twisty rutty jaunt through the woods. There are HUGE hills that MOST quads cannot climb, but with a lot of power, and rider skill, those hills could be climbed.
Trouble is, big motors come with big weight problems. I need high power, but light weight, and strong. My 400EX is good enough for me, but if it had twice the horsepower, with the same weight and reliability, it would be great. The reason I haven't modified my motor is because of the reliability. I really rev mine hard when I am hill climbing, or racing.
I realize I am just dreaming. But if Honda did come out with a higher power, lower weight quad, that is as reliable as the 400EX, (reverse or not) I would buy it.

a agree yet i don t under powered quads are unsafe extremly unsafe if your dealing with monster hill's haveing your quad run out of power so much that u can count the rpm's at the top of a 30 foot hill at a 60 or 70% grade isn t a good feeling at all i really agree with racer like u guys say size does matter for the hard core atver
