Default need help on timing

The ignition timing is not adjustable .. And unless the bottom end was disassembled the cam should still be in time .. Were the valves adjusted when the head was installed .. ?

ok my son turned over the engine not knowing anything
without the piston and cylinder on

With the spark plug out and the top cover removed turn the engine over slowly with the pull starter ... Watching the valves when the intake opens and closes check the piston location with a light thru the spark plug hole .. turn thr engine slowly until it is as close to TDC as possible .. Then check the valve clearance for intake & exhaust ..

They should be adjusted when the engine is cold to ....... VALVE CLEARANCE: IN/EX: 0.15 mm plus/minus 0.02 mm (0.006 in plus/minus 0.001 in)
