Default Another electric shift problem

I know there have been lots of posts on this subject (I think I've read most of them!), but I haven't found this particular problem. I have a 2006 Rancher ES with about 350 miles on it. It started having shifting problems just recently. First it was doing the blinking thing, but usually I could get it into gear either by rocking or turning it off and back on. Now when I turn it on the reverse light is on even though it is really in neutral. I tried shifting with the manual shifter, but nothing moves. The reverse light does blink 3 times so I'm thinking it's the angle sensor. There is no dealership where I live and I would have to put the bike on a barge or ferry to get it in to one so I've been trying to figure this out myself. Anyone of any ideas???

Wow...if it didn't have only 350 miles, I'd think it was the drum.

My '02 ES had 5200 miles on it before I had any shifting issues..and it was the drum. Wouldn't change gears even manually..

J jwolfe69 it's all these electronic this and electronic that on these new atv , and not just Honda but other brand's as well but i do seem to see more problem's on the Honda model's with the ES feature on them that i just think Honda brought out this high Tech stuff before it was given enough testing before putting them on the market ; and i'm a Honda fan from way back in the 60's the manual shift model's aren't having all these problem's ! My brother has a 2004 Honda Rancher 350 full time 4x4 with the foot shift manual transmission and the semi auto clutch , and he has only had to take it back when Honda had the tie rod recall and he waited for almost a year before he finally took it in to do the replacement of tie rod's and and his warranty was already ran out over six month's and Honda still covered it at no cost ! .......................

Probably should remove the front engine cover and inspect the shift drum detent in case a pivot bolt backed out, or if the shift arm assembly has failed.

Thanks Gimpster. I'll take a look at that.
