Front axle / CV joint strenth
#1
I've been fourwheeling for years, but I'm new to quads. I was out on my new Foreman ES today playing the hills near my house. At one point I was backing up a steep hill, with the wheels turned sharply, and having to give it gas to get out of a situation... this is a big no-no when 4wheeling most trucks. Its a recipe for a broken front bifield, u-joint, or CV joint... which ever your truck might have.
So how is it on these quads? Are the CV joints strong enough that I shouldn't be worried or do they sometimes fail?

Never heard of one failing, either here in the forum or anywhere else. That's not just the Foremans but all the Hondas.
I have heard that Foremans have such a torquey low end, that you don't want to punch the throtle in 2wd under load because you can break the axle. The remedy I heard was to just leave it in 4wd in that situation so you distribute the torque to the front as well and share the load around.

i have a 04 foreman es with the selectable 2wd or 4wd and you wont have any problems with the cv's at all even if your in reverse with the wheel fully turned and flooring it. the thing is a beast.. i have rode mine through hell and back and its fine.. it donesnt look that good but it still runs like a champ
