Foreman 350 owners please help
#1
I have found what I think is a good deal on an old 350 Foreman. I can't seem to find much information about that model though. I am wondering if there are any problems with that model. How hard is it to operate? Is it difficult to turn due to the early design limited slip front end? How does it compare to the quads of today? Does it have good trail and mud manners? I havn't been able to find much aftermarket upgrades for it. Would it be difficult to find the parts to get it to keep up with newer Quads?
Thanks

ok the key to posting a question is to make it clear what model it is,im assuming its honda but wait honda only makes "foreman"400,450's,ther was no foreman 350 to my knowledge and ive been ridein for over 6 years,if its a rancher buy it no questions asked its the best midsized 4x4 out ther with optional ES,but i have heard of a few girls saying sompthing about a foreman 350,but im still 99.9% sure there wasnt a 350 foreman,at least not by honda, maybe u meant fourtrax 350=rancher,but i cant help u if ur not more precise.

I had an 87 honda foreman 350 and it was a good machine and it did steer alittle harder than a newer atv but not much mine would keep up with a 99 foreman 450es . and also I had no problem getting parts for it , i THINK it is a great machine

Honda's first 4X4 was the 350. A year or 2 later they upgraded a few things and called it the Foreman (somewhere around '87, I think). It was a good quad but had some drawbacks (my dad had one, and my sister and her family are still using it, 14 years later). The suspension is terrible, but that can be fixed. I think Works Performance lists shocks for that model. There were also some decent shocks in Dennis Kirk fairly reasonable, but the name elludes me right now. The clutches in the front limited slip didn't last very long. I don't know if there is a fix for that or not. Maybe just going to one of the locker front differentials would work. It turned hard but a set of Vampires or some other thin aggressive tread tires up front would help that, though it still will have a pretty big turning radius I would imagine. The choke set up on the handlebar tended to corrode and stick, but a little simple engineering could fix that. You might try Highlifter.com for some parts. I assume you can still get stuff thru Honda as well. One nice thing on the Foreman 350 was that it used 12" rims front and back. That makes tire selection enormous. If I remember right it will run close to 50 mph or a little less, stock. If you can get it cheap, it wouldn't be a bad machine.

It was the first 4wheel drive quad we owned. It was a great quad, we all loved it. It has a solid axle front and rear end, it is terrible riding, seriously rough. But I still haven't seen to many quads better in the snow if any. It never has broken down and still is pretty much stock yet(We just gave it away to our relatives recently). Parts however are still available as far as I know. It would be a good quad to get as long as it is a good buy. It does I might add not stear very tight at all and off camber angles can be hairy, but if you learn on it (or get use to the feel this quad has) then there isn't much you can't do on newer improved quads. Good Luck!

As you should be able to see by the other replies to this topic the Honda TRX350 Foreman is a real quad. It was made I believe from 1987-1989. It was the next version of the TRX350 which was one of Hondas first 4x4 quads in the US. The Foreman added a standard 12 volt acc outlet, made racks standard as well as a few more things. If I remember correctly the Ranchers have only been around for a couple of years. From what I have heard it is not too difficult to replace the jug on the Foreman350 and make it a 500. This has the potential to make the quad a monster of a mud machine. That is why I am considering getting one. I understand why you may not have heard of them though since they were only made for a few years it makes them uncommon.

Thanks for all the replies. This is what I know about the quad I am instrested in so far. It was used by an old farmer (he is in his 80's now) for your typical farm work. I has been well maintained. It has a larger carb jet and a K&N filter. It still has the factory tires. It has a Warn winch and an adjustible plow. I actually havn't got to see it yet, but a test drive is in the works soon. The person who does the seasonal maintaince on it is who was telling me about it. The asking price is $2000 which seems like alot for a machine that old, but it does seem to have the necessary acc to make it worth it.

I had a foreman 350 and beat the hell out of it for three years and there was no plastic on it and I sold it for the same price I bought it for $1800 so if this one your talking about is in good shape for 2K then I would deffinatly buy it . They plow snow like no other rig , I plowed the pond across the road from my house with it every year with bald tires and it still did a great job ! This ATV isnt that hard to steer Because I have been driving it since I was 9 years old so it isnt that hard to steer . Any adult male that cant handle the steering on this quad shouldnt be riding at all !
