Weird 2000 rancher 4x4 es shift problem
#1
the electric shift on my 2000 rancher 4x4 es doesn't work properly. It starts and runs fine for the first minute or two and then it won't shift anymore. If I turn it off and turn it back on or just put the key in the "on" position without the atv on, it shifts perfectly. I can turn the atv off and back on immediately after it stops shifting and it works perfectly or I can wait, either way, turning off the atv makes it shift fine for the next few minutes. I have checked the angle sensor and it checks out fine, maybe it works sporadically. All of this started when I got the atv almost completely on its side in about 2 feet of water and it shut off. When I tried to crank it the es started its problems and the speedometer stopped working. The speedometer also still isn't working, but I haven't messed with it yet. If anyone has any ideas please let me know. Thanks

Everytime the key is turned off and on again it re-sets the ESP (electric shift program) .. The ESP won't work properly unless the speed sensor is working .. PM your email address and I will email you the section covering the speed sensor test ...

My foreman does basicly the same thing but my speed ohmeter works fine. It gets hung up or just doesnt shift, blinks and ****. I have to turn it off and on real fast to reset it. What causes this if the speed ohmeter is working fine?
P.S. Sorry there akp283 no trying to steal you thread bro.

its cool fabulousforeman. I was wondering the same thing, if I get the speedometer working and the es still doesn't work right, what's the next step? But i will try the speedometer first.
