Key replacement
It is very easy but I'm reluctant to respond because of issues with theft of ATV's. It takes only a couple minutes, either ask the dealer, or even better take the bike to the dealer with you and have them do it. I just got keys for my Foreman for around $5 each. They do not have the "boot" on them but work. If you want one with the boot you can probably get it from certain dealers.

You have to pop the switch out and the code is on the side ... We have both Honda blanks and we also have cheap blanks (that look like a house key) .. If you didn't buy the bike from us then you have to bring in the bike & the papers (with matching VIN numbers) to have a key made ...

Thanks. The bike was bought from Rick Case Honda in Davie, FL. I called the service dept. and he's the one who said to take the switch out to locate the key code, he just didn't tell me how to do it. He did tell me they could not cut a new key from just the VIN#.
Do I access the switch by just removing the two phillps-head screws on the sides of the instrument panel?
Thanks

Key replacement
Hello, HondaMechanic.
I have a 2003 TRX250ex. The county I live in is moving to recording the VINs of the ATVs. I have looked on all the cross members of the frame on the front end of the quad, and down by the left foot peg--I still cannot find the VIN. Do you know where I can find the number?
I called my local guy, and he said to look in the two places I was already looking; perhaps it is on the headtube?
Thanks for your help!

Key replacement
I was browsing the forum and this thread caught my eye. I recently purchased a 400ex from a friend. I know it's not stolen, but he lost the paperwork that came with it. I only have the key that came with it when I bought it, so if I lose that key am I screwed? Should I have copies made now?
