When starting, the display on the combination meter cycles through all the different possibilities then the speedonmeter number shows an L and the N blinks three times. Prior to this the oil temp light didn't go out although now it goes out when the lights are turned on. The gears won't shift -- no noise or clicks -- and nothing happens with the manual shift -- it won't move at all -- although it did once, the first time, when I really cranked on it. I tested the angle sensor and ecu (trobleshooting guide says to do this with 3 blinks) and they test fine. I'm not sure where to go from here. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

long story short, if it doesn't move easily with the manual shifter, you have a mechanical tranny problem, don't even mess with the es system till you can shift the tranny with the lever with your hand, but it sounds like you have an abundance of electrical problems too
