You want to use a oil that has SG, SF specs... You CAN NOT use regular car oil in these. Honda specifically recommends oil with the SG, SF specs.

I use Amsoil, or you can use one of the Honda oils.. But DONT USE REGULAR AUTOMOTIVE OIL UNLESS IT HAS SG, SF SPECS!!!

You'd be hard pressed to find modern automotive oils that don't meet & exceed those older specifications....

If you're concerned with the lack of zinc & friction modifiers, stick with a heavier weight oil like 20w50 or 15w50, which is good for an air cooled engine anyway. The lighter weights are formulated more for emissions & contain less zinc to protect catalytic converters, and friction modifiers for less parasitic loss.

I have been using Mobil1 15w50 in my EX for approx a year under racing conditions.

I have also used other automotive synthetics & non-synthetics in my other bikes (ATC200X, ATC350X) for years w/no trouble from the engine or clutch/tranny.....
