Default replacing front sprocket

i will be ataking on this challenge. i have no master link in my chain. i was told that i can make one by grinding away at a pin in the chain( im guessing the head of it) and replace it with a master link. if not, what is the best way to change it wiothout breaking my chain. any other pointerts will help alot. thanks

Not sure what you are saying???? You shouldn't need to break the chain just to change out the front sprocket. Maybe your chain is to long, and you don't have enough adjustment left so you need to shorten it....is that it??? Taking a link out shouldn't be a big deal, but you should get a proper chain tool (instead of grinding a pin).

On the other hand, if you are changing a sprocket, it is often a good idea to get a fresh chain and probably a new sprocket in back as well! Chains and sprockets are disposable items, and it is a good idea to change them out now and then anyway (your old X can probably use it!). The extra money you will spend, will save you from getting stranded out on the trail with a broken chain sometime......
