xr600 serial numbers
#2
I have a guide here with all Honda engine numbers,...but none jive with the number you provided.
Several different years start with PE04E-5.......but none with a 0 after the that 5. All are either...2,3,4,5,6,7,8 or 9.....directly after the PE04E-5
But also keep in mind that some years use duplicate numbers.
One reason is because you actually have two series of XR600 engines.
You have the dual carburetor models and the single carb models.
Second reason is that some engines were exactly the same and came from the same production year but sold in year models as far as two or three years apart in some cases.
The PE04E does designate it as being a legit XR600R engine however...and not an XL or XR-L wide ratio trans engine.
