My 2005 350 Rancher ES is not showing what gear it's in on the display, everything else works fine. Any suggestions?

 

Hild both the up and down shift switches in with the unit in neitral with the key off. While both are depressed turn the key on, let off the shift switches and depress them again. Does the "--" display in the gear position display area ?

If not the meter may be bad or the meter connection poor

Still nothing showing on the display after trying the above procedure. I'll check the meter connections and go from there.
