420 rancher tires
I have been following this post and I have to agree that the larger tires change the handling of the Rancher. I have 25/10/12 and 25/8/12 tires with Vision wheels. The offset is about 2" more than stock. The biggest thing I noticed is the larger turning radius. Its like turning a truck around. I have not had problems with bump steer like I had with my big bear ( it was awful) . The Rancher 420 With the stock tires I could pull the front tires off the ground in first and second gear. Now I cannot at all. I'm considering going back to the stock tires and selling the others.

I've got a 07 420 4x4 with 26" ITP Mudlites. This bike will go most anywhere any other SRA bike will go, but the handling did go to S**t! Today I put the stock tires on it for the first time and WOW, it handles great. Yup, it'll pull the fronts easily in 1st or 2nd. I had the dealer put the mudlites on before I picked it up, so this is my first time riding with the stockers. I couldn't believe how much better the turning radius is.
BTW, how do I insert an image on this site? I have pics on photobucket, but I don't know how to insert them here.

Hey Guys,
I wanted to bring this post back because I am confused. I am buying an 08 420 this spring and I thought that I was going to go with a set of the 589's but after reading this it sounds like 1) I will definately need special rims and 2) changing the tires will make the quad handle like crud? Tell me what I should/can do to get better tires on that machine without ruining the way it handles? and I honestly don't want to use the stock tires. I will be doing mostly trail riding in the northeast US (sharp rocks, random mud, sand, street, etc.. and I will want to use it in the winter too) I don't mind paying a little extra but not a fortune and I also don;t want to make the quad feel like a tank?
THanks for your replies!
Gerry..
