high comp. 400ex starting problems

Default high comp. 400ex starting problems

ok so, high comp. piston, hot cam, pipe jet, cdi box,... so the question is, dose anyone know if they make a kick start for the new 400ex, and or a heavyer starter to take away my headaches of starting it?or anyother secrets on easyer starting!?

bump up the battery for one thing, if they make a battery with more cold cranking amps it will make the bike turn over easier with the high compression piston and it will make it easier to start. Otherwise check your pilot jet to make sure it is putting enough gas in at the same time, and your fuel mixture screw.(I gotta do this on my bbk build on the wolvy as it is hard to crank with the stock battery when really cold, and doesnt want to idle till it warms up a little(probably the mixture screw on mine))

thanks man! i'll be trying that. now dose anyone know were i can get a high torque starter for it?

Try the stock cdi, some of the aftermarket cdi's cause problems starting in cold weather...
