i have a 1995 trx300-s fourtrax, and just about everytime you push the start button it just clicks, you have to kick it and then push the start button, it works most of the time, but not all the time. and i cannot locate the serial number on this 4 wheeler. i have looked and looked i cannot seem to find it. ALSO while its running, it has a knocking sound. im not sure if it is sopose to do this, someone please help ASAP, its more of a tink, and with the rev of the motor to half or so, it seems to go away... please help!

MAYBE YOU STARTOR IS GOING OUT ALSO IT IS NOT SUPPOSED TO KNOCK AT ALL AND I WILL TRY AND FIND THE SERIAL NUMBER FOR YOU

DOSE THE KNOCK SOUND LIKE IT IS COMING FROM THE MOTOR FIRE IT UP AND LET IT IDEL AND PUT OUR HEAD NEAR THE MOTOR AND LISTING YOU COULD ALSO HAVE A LOOSE BEARING IN THE MOTOR I LOOKED FOR IT BUT ON ALL THE STUFF I OWN MY SERIAL NUMEBERS ARE WELL HOW ABOUT THIS YOU ARE IN FRONT OF YOU QUAD ON THE BEARING CARRIER THAT HOLDS THE FRONT END ON THERE THERE SHOULD BE A INGRAVING OR SOMETHING AND THERE SHOULD BE A BUNCH OF LETERS YOU WILL PROBBALY HAVE TO TURN THE STERING TO THE LEFT OR RIGHT TO SEE IT AND I DONT THINK THE KNOCK COULD COME FROME THE MUFFLER JUST MAKE SHURE THE MUFFLER IS BOLTED TIGHT AND EVERY THING IS TIGHT AND LET ME KNOW

 

i checked it out, all i can find is "129" below the sticker saying the model and year. when i start it, and it runs, the clicking sound, or tink, is coming from the top of the cyclinder. , near where the pressure realease valve is. and it has a little knock only at a little over idle, in the middle of the case. please let me know.

 

THATS EASSY TO FIX MY DIRT BIKE DID THE SAME THING MAKING A TAPPING NOISE AT IDEL THERE SHOULD BE TO BIG NUTS ON EACH SIDE OF THE HEAD WHEN YOU TAKE THOSE OUT YOU SHOULD HAVE A 1 WAY SCREW AND THERE SHOUL BE A BOLT UNDER IT HEAR HOLD ON ILL JUST PAST IT SO IT WILL BE EASSIER YOU HAVE TO ADJUST YOU TAPPERS THATS WHAT IS MAKING THE TIKING NOISE

 

well, its not just at idle, it does it constantly. the more you rev, the faster, higher pitched it gets. is there any guide on how to do this? there is a thing on the front of the head, that has two bolts holding it in, is this what your talking about?

HEY THE BIG SCREWS 1 SHOULD BE FACING TOWARDS THE CARB AND THE OTHER SHOULD BE FACING TOWARDS THE EXAUST TAKE THOSE OUT THERE SHOULD BE A SREW THAN A NUT GET A FLAT HEAD AND A WRENCH GET THE WRENCH AROUND THE BOLT AND PUT THE FLAT HEAD IN THE FLAT HEAD SPOT SO IT DOSE NOT MOVE AFTER YOU GET THE NUT LOOSE TAKE THE FLAT HEAD AND SCREAW IT IN A LITTLE YOU YOU SHOULD HAVE A LITTLE FRICTION NOT ALOT AND THEN TIGHTIN IT BACK UP AND SEE WHAT IT DOSE
