400rancher AT fan motor making grinding sound
I've had my rancher at for 3 years now and it has 7358mls on it .And now when the fan kicks on it starts to make a griinding sound like there is a stick stuck in it but i checked and everything looks ok and then it will lock up on me and i have to take a rubber mallet and tape the the motor and it stops makeing the sound but it will come right back again in minuts, and advice on what could be wrong would be helpfull thanks

I'm not that familiar with the Rancher, but if it's like my Foreman you can remove the inner fenders and unbolt and remove the fan and it's housing as an assembly. There will also be a breather hose, and a 2p connector...
Once the assembly is out it should be fairly self-explanatory how to remove the cover, and fan blade. I'd guess you will either find some debris caught between the fan blade and motor, or once the fan blade is off you will be able to feel that the motor's shaft doesn't spin smoothly and it needs replaced.
My guess from what you described is that you just have something caught in there...
Anyhow, when you reassemble, use locktite on the nut that holds the fan blade on.
Once the assembly is out it should be fairly self-explanatory how to remove the cover, and fan blade.
