New to this forum but not to atv's, my last was a 2000 400ex w/some mods. I'm looking to buy new this week, I have always bought used. I was thinking about a 400ex because thats what I had last or should I go for the 450r?

trail only, my racin days are over. I thought the 450r had reverse? wich comes in handy on the trails. my old 400ex did not have reverse and was a pain when lodge against a tree.

The 400EX is perhaps the greatest trail quad of all time! Mine is going on 10 years old now, with no major problems. Treat it right, and it will last forever!

Thanx for the reply, I had my 400ex for 5 years and bought it used and never had any major problems aswell, just thought I would step up a notch to the 450. My oldest just turned 10 and wants a atv, so I decided it was time to get me a new one too. Looking at the 90ex for her.

I don't like the 450 for tight trails, because its engine likes to rev and it is geared tall...doesn't like to go slow!

The EX on the other hand, will lug down and just idle through the nasty stuff!

i know you like to go fast, but a polaris trail boss, bout 1993, is the toughest on trails i got one and it will run with a stock 300ex, not racing, but overall riding i perferred it. they are easy to hop up, but gotta be careful.
