The water resistance/vulnerability between the two is the same; the power pretty close, since they have identical motors and geartrains.

Heavier (lower-resitance) wiring of the A2500 may make a marginal difference in pulling force over the A2000, but if we believe Mr. Ohm and Mr. Kirchoff, that difference is slight. Even if you theoretically set the A2500's wiring resistance to zero (impossible in reality) in the circuit, there's no way you can pick up 25% more pulling force from the A2500.

I went with the 2500 just for a couple reasons. First off you get a roller fairlead with it and it's only about $30-50 more then the 2000 after you bought a roller fairlead for the 2000, also its nice to know you will have some extra pulling power if you ever need it. Maintance none that I know of except keep it clean and keep the cable in good shape. As far as being able to get 25% more pulling power, I don't know I'll leave that to Mr Tesla, Mr Ohms, and who ever the bottom line in my opinion when the two are maxed out at 2000lbs side by side for a period of time I would put my money on the 2500. But then again you may never need to max them out???
