My buddy just had the same sort of problem on his 350.

He could not shift into reverse. After two weeks of work he found a single wire off of a terminal - he replaced it - made sure it was tight and the problem was solved.

Now the problem is finding the wires to YOUR shift mechanism... his was buried deep in the tranny. Get a good electrical diagram and be patient.

Good Luck!

Thanks man. Would that also stop it from shifting manually too?

Have you tried doing the honda rock? The tranny usually needs to be rotating, to shift reilably. Try gently rocking the quad for and aft, while trying the manual shifter.
Can the elec shift get you into 1st and reverse? or is it only manual lever that will do it?

My 2001 450 did that, it was along time ago but if remember right it was just a blown fuse or dirty conection at the fuse area under the seat.
