Tire size

Hey guys! I'm new to this particular forum so go easy on me ok? LOL!!
Anyways.. I have a 07' Rancher 420 4x4, electric shift, fuel injected.. I purchased the machine right after Christmas and had the dealer swap the 24" tires out for 12x26 Kenda Bear claws with ITP rims.. The same size (12x26) on all four wheels.. I have heard and read that there COULD/WILL be a considerable amount of power/torque loss due to the change of tire.. Exactly how much power loss are we looking at and is there IF anything that can be done to regain at least some of the lost power?

How does it handle???
I have had bigger tires/rims on my Ranchers before, but I have now gone back to the stock ones (thankfully I kept them). I got a lot of bump steer and in 4wd the front end would fight me like I had lockers on. After going back to the stock tires, they really aren't as bad as I once imagined they would be....
I really feel like the Rancher is best used as a light trail quad, and folks who want to build a monster mud machine or something, should have picked a different quad to start with.

the tire size shouldn't really make that big of a difference at all being they're 26". I really haven't had any experience with the fuel injected quads so i don't know what is recommended for cheap hp gains. exhaust, high flow air filter, and gear reduction are a few things but as far as fuel/air adjustments i dont know. if it had a carb it would be a jet kit. maybe somebody with FI experience will chime in.

Well, I have heard that there would be a significant loss of power and what not.. Considering stocks are 24's I was a bit concerned. In 4WD the front end is a bit of a bull to handle, but I'm a big dude to I just show the beast who's boss. I thought about maybe doing a pipe insert or something to gain a bit of the HPs back.. But I'm not sure how to go about that or even its if its doable on the fuel injected bikes nor if its even worth it.. Any thoughts on this?
I'm NOT wanting to turn it into something its not made for, so no worries there.. I just like the added meat the Bear Claws give to the grip.. We ride some pretty interesting trails here in Central Arkansas and we do hit the occasional mud hole.. But its for sure NOT going to be a in the mud even 30% of the time.

Anybody ever tell ya not to believe everything you hear. Look at the Honda forum and see the sizes most are running. As I said I am not experiencing and powerloss on a 400 Rancher AT. Your 420 should do great with them. Also check the 420 threads and see what people are doing for power gains such as new power or computer modules.
