Should I patch it?
What kind of quad do you have?
Anyhow, I've had the best luck with the patch kits with the handle/rasp, glue, and the little rope type looking patches you can get at Shucks or wherever.
The cone looking patches that work well in an emergency for a nail hole in a motorcycle tire don't work well in the jagged stick/rock type punctures you get on ATV's...

For a street ridden motorcycle, something that you do 70 on the freeway in traffic, I'd never run a patched tire except maybe to slowly get the bike off the highway and to the first place I can buy a new tire. At high speeds on the street, there is just too much at risk to consider trying to save the price of a tire.
On quads, though, if done properly and the hole isn't too bad I feel comfortable patching mine.
Since you are the one taking the risk or paying for the tire, what you decide for yourself could be different...
