Default 400ex electrical problems

welcome to the forums billhilly. I think that may be my old EX. Is it black?
Mine was the same way but, it was if you flipped to low beams. I replaced the whole headlight assembly with the pigtail and checked for all bare wires. From the pig tail of the head light assembly down the steering stem and around under the gas tank is where I'd check. That's where most bare wires seem to surface.

This is common with this model. The headlight wires can wear through their insulation. I just taped them all individually.

On mine, the headlight wires were rubbing against one of the braces for the plastic. It was up front, very close to where the pigtail comes out of the back of the light.
