Default Top end Rebuild 400ex

I'm going to need to freshen the top end on my son's 400ex. I've done a number of top ends on my 2 stroke bikes, but I've never rebuilt the top end on a 4 stroke. Its using some oil, so I'd like to replace the piston, rings, needle bearing etc. My question, is there any instruction manuals I on the web I can download, or can someone please e-mail some to me. I'd like to educate myself before I take on this project.

Thanks.

Default Top end Rebuild 400ex

It should be easy to do an in frame rebuild. Although I've never done one on a 400ex. I just completed a top end rebuild of my 200sx. A 1mm over piston, stage II web cam, rebuilt head, new clutch. After I had all the pieces it took me a day to complete and get it running. That includes putting it together and taking it apart at least 3-4 times. The trickiest thing for me was getting the cam timed right. I still don't think I have it right. And will be bringing it in this spring to have someone who knows what there doing take a look at it. But it runs good. And I even think its faster than my 250x! Good luck.
