Default Issue with front sprocket

My chain came off and wedged up between the front sprocket and chain guard (they were old). I got a new chain and sprockets. Now the front sprocket wiggles a little on the output shaft. It stays on the splines ok in a rotating motion, but i can wiggle it front and back (to and form the engine). Has this happened to anyone? Does anyone have any ideas for fixes?

if it was me i would replace it. It sounds like it is worn out too much to tighten down all the way, but your output shaft my be worn now too....

The sprockets and chain are new. So it sounds like the output shaft. I assume this is a tough/expensive job to do.... :-(

The front sprocket will have some movement in it because it "floats" on the splines. Only thing that holds it on is the little plate on the end. All the front sprockets I've seen do this.

Does the shaft itself have play in it, or is it just the sprocket on the shaft that has play? I hope you are running a case saver!

I second the case saver. The few dollars they cost are well worth the investment.

Both the shaft has a little bit of play and the sprocket. I just ordered a case saver. Thanks for the heads up. Probably should invest in some good ankle savers (boots) too.

I've got a busted case on a 250x in my garage right now. The factory should've put a better guard on them.
