My 04 450 got stuck in first gear, finally got it to go down to neutral and reverse but would not go passed first. Rode for a lil while like that and suddenly it went to second gear and then third. BUT now it wouldnt go down passed second gear. Went back and fourth like this for a while until it died in second gear and cant get it back to neutral to start it. It will go from second to fifth. But not into first, neutral, or reverse. Not even with the manual shifter. What do guys think this could be. Thanks in advance..

Are you rocking the foreman, for and aft, while attempting shifting?
Does the display show the flashing -- ? if so, how many flashes does it do?

rock it back and fourth many times, it blinks on me every now and then. sometimes 3 blinks sometimes 6. I know its the angle sensor and prolly the ecu. but this is almost like there is something in the tranny hang it up. stopping it from shifting passed 2nd. cause it shifts to 3rd, 4th ,and 5th just fine. But wont go down passed 2nd.

Did the problems just come on suddenly?Or has it been deteriorating over time? Is there a reason to suspect a bent shaft?Accident or crash?
Have you done the clutch adjustment?
Do you have a service manual? Theres a procedure for tracking down the faulty unit, once the codes are known.

yes it happened all of a sudden. Dont think its anything electrical. It wont manually below 2nd either. I think its a bent gearshift fork not shaft. Keep in mind, it shift fine from 2nd to 5th just wont go below 2nd gear.
