The reason I stated it was a top end carb, was I thought you bought the 39mm, that's the one everyone else has. The 39mm is the only one I know of that they make.

I don't know about everyone else but I like my 39mmfcr. I talked to TC too and he tried to peddle me a Lectron. The reason I didn't buy it was 1)there's no pump so you better be rich on the bottom to compensate for no pump shot(TC calls this "proper jetting") 2)All the Lectrons I have seen have been mounted all funky 'cause they didn't fit right 3) My fcr fits like a champ! no cutting drilling hacking or chewing for that matter. I have excessive bottom end but a lot of that is probably stroke ,top end is full on all the way to the limiter. I paid about 475 for the carb and the new cable. Yes that is higher than the lectron but if cheaper was always better you'd be riding a Mojave!

Outerwear makes a lid for the 250R that is made out of the same fabric material as their prefilters if you have a problem getting enough air, just a thought.

88' 250R many extras

I agree. Does anyone know who to contact at one of the ATV mag's? This would be a fair un-bias test. In my past experiences with automotive mechanics, they sell what they know how to work on. I almost think they are affraid to try something new, if it don't work it damages their reputation and ego. That's when I started doing my own work.

I called Edelbrock to ask if they had more than one size for the 400EX and they said no. The carb they sell is a 34X38mm oval bore venturi. I guess they have had a few calls on this since the issue of DirtWheels came out with the write up on Doug Eichner and John Gregory's 440's. The article said they were 39mm carbs.

I dont know much about the QwikSilver but my FCR fit like it was made for it. Also in real world riding you need a accel pump to avoid a lowend bog. This is the reason that the QwikSilver for the EX is not the same as the XR. The FCR may be Pricey but it works well. The dffrence between stock and it is huge on a worked engine. Avoid the Lectron unless you plan on racing where you are able to keep the revs up.

One queston I have had on the FCR was fuel mileage. Have you noticed a loss in fuel economy with the FCR. My riding buddy has narrowed down his carb choices to the Qwiksilver and FCR, but he is concerned about mileage. I get about 90-100 miles out of a 4 gallon IMS tank. Please let me know.

If you know how to tune a carb, all three of these
carbs work fine.I have the qs on my 440ex and it
works perfectly.So,if you don't own one,don't call
it junk.....

Hey jmann440, thanks for the support. I was beginning think I was the only one with a Qwiksilver out there. Did you have to re-jet the carb for your 440? This will be my next mod to my EX.
