I broke down and bought a QwikSilver carb for my 400EX after I watched an expert team win the Las Vegas 200 with a QwikSilver equipped 440EX. All I can say is this was my bike needed to run in the desert with the banshee's and 250R's. It bolted on in minutes and started right up. The pumper carb has awesome throttle response at all rpm's.

I bought it through Golden West Cycle for $390. It was more of an improvement than the $450 Big Gun exhaust system I am using. Jetting was a breeze since there are no jets! Just a needle. It ran great right out of the box. But I did richen it two clicks, it was a little lean on the the bottom.

I JUST SENT ONE BACK TO GOLDEN WEST. THE GUY PUTTING IN MY 440 KIT SAID I WOULDN'T NEED IT UNLESS I WANTED TOP END SPEED. HE SAID MY STOCK CARB WHEN HE IS DONE WILL DO JUST FINE IN THE WOODS. I MAY GET CURIOUS LATER AND PUT ONE ON. IT'S A BIG CARB THOUGH. I DIDN'T LIKE THE IDEAL OF GRINDING MY THROTTLE HOUSING DOWN. LET ME KNOW IF THE EXCELERATION IS BETTER IN THE LOW AND MIDRANGE THEN BEFORE.

The carb made a difference everywhere. The guys at GWC said they gained over 3hp and 2+ ftlbs of torque on their Duncan 440's they race. also the qwiksilver carb actually has a smaller venturi that the stocker. I don't know why it makes more power being smaller but it does.

I WOULD LIKE TO SEE A SHOOT OUT ON THE QWIKSILVER, LECTRON AND THE FCR. THERES DIFFERENT OPINIONS ON EVERYONE OF THEM. I WOULD REALLY LIKE TO KNOW THE EXACT TRUTH. SOME GOOD DYNO CHARTS FOR HORSEPOWER AND TORQUE USING THE SAME BIKE WITH EACH CARB WOULD BE NICE.

Yes, that would be an excellent shoot-out. Anyone capable of doing this for us readers?

I don't know how they stack up against one another. I have never seen another EX with an FCR or a Lectron. I can tell you the Qwiksilver is basically a modern lectron with an accelerator pump. I did'nt buy a lectron because it did'nt have a pump. so that means poor throttle response at low rpm. As for the FCR, they cost too much, I got a price of $550 big ones. My friend has a YZ426 and hates the carburetion. It has been in the shop a few times to try and get it right but no luck. Edelbrock advertises a Qwiksilver for his bike but they are not yet available. He might try one when they come out. I will let everybody know the out come if he buys one.
