I am looking for some input on some good (better than stock) tires for my rancher 420. My dealer suggests I don't go bigger than 25" but I can't get 14" rims in a 25" inch tire. I was wondering if the ITP Terracross 26" tires with ITP SS112 14" rims would clear everything on my quad and how much power I will lose. I am considering going with and HMF Pipe and EFI controller to compensate for the bigger tires so I can bring the power at least back to stock. any suggestions would be awesome, the dealer wasn't sure if the 26" would clear everything while riding.

That's what I thought, but the guy i'm talking to is kind of "green" when it comes to Utility quads and he thought if I try to hit 5th gear on a semi-snowy/muddy trail it might bog down my quad to a stop. I have been riding on a frozen/snowy river lately with a group of 10 quads (big bores) and I can cruise with them fine (40mph or so) but when we hit the hills I just can't get the traction and climb like they can with my stock tires although I seem to have enough power to make it. What do you think of the Terracross tires? From what I've read they will be night and day compared to stock.

I am running 25" ITP Holeshot ATR radials, which have the same casing as the Terracross but a different tread pattern. They are great snow tires (lots of floatation and 1.5" more ground clearance), but I don't think I would want to go bigger. I have picked up some bump steer and the steering really fights me sometimes when in 4wd (the same way lockers fight you).

Cool. I just realized that with my 2k lb winch I only have about an 1.5inch clearance when the front wheel is turned toward it, so going with 26" tires may be a mistake and hit my winch. I think a 25" tire would clear it though. I called the guys at ITP and they suggested staying with a 25" tire on a 12" rim but told me that they are just now released a 14" rim that will take 25" tires if you like the bigger rims, but they were JUST released and most of the dealers won't have them yet. I'll probably stick with 25", thanks for the info!

I spoke with a ITP rep and he said that all there 14s will fit a 25" tire, but it would be a very rough ride. He also suggested nothing bigger than a 25" tire to not lose any power. I think I'm going to go with a 25/8/12 & 25/10/12 for the 07 Rancher. Sidenote, why did Honda go with 24" tires & an 11" rim in the rear?

I just ordered a set of ITP TerraCross R/T tires for my 07 Rancher, 25-10-12 rear and 25-8-12 for the front. All mounted on ITP black Delta steel wheels. I ride mostly hard trails (conglomerate lava rock) with some snow and light mud. I'm hoping to gain some ride comfort with the new tires.
And I'm curious also as to why Honda went with a 11 inch rim in the rear?
