Default 2001 Shifting fork

I'm considering buying a 2001 Rancher 350. The person selling says the shifting fork is broken. If this is realy what is wrong with it, is this costly to repair? If so, how much $ am I looking at spending. If the shifting fork is broken, is it likely that there are other problems?

The shift forks are in the transmission, and thats as far into the motor as you can go. If that's the problem it sounds expensive. Call a dealer and see if they will give you an estimate, they will also know if any other damage is common with that problem.
