I doubt the other companies are any better with warranties. That's a penny pinchers game.

I purchased a 06 Honda Rancher 4x4 ES from Chattanooga, Tennessee (they even installed mud tires & CV axle guards). I was also sold an extended warranty and told it would cover anything except sinking it in a river. It is now 1 year 5 months later and my engine is smoking horribly. Now they say if I have ridden it in dusty/dirty conditions my warranty will not cover it. I do ride at a mud atv park, but it certainly isn't a river or anything worse than what they show on their commercials. Now they want me to accept responsibility for diagnosis of the problem and potentially the cost of repair out of my pocket. ALL I AM GETTING AT IS BUYER BEWARE. DEFINITELY DO NOT BUY AN EXTENDED WARRANTY AND I WOULDN'T RECOMMEND BUYING A HONDA...... PERIOD!!!!</end quote></div>

Call Honda customer service, your dealer sucks!!!!

I was really just trying to get the word out and maybe save someone else the grief i'm experiencing. I can't speak for how other companies handle their extended warranties as this is the first new ride i've ever had. I too had heard all of these great things about Honda and I have an 85 Honda 250 that still runs fine. I just want to let people know to save their cash for the extended warranty and put it up for repairs when you need them!

does honda actually own the extended warranty company? Many companies outsource this part and don't have any connection with the warranty company.

I haven't purchased an extended warranty but my grandfather has. He got it when he bought his 01 Rubicon brand new. He put 10k+ miles on it before the warranty ran out and needless to say he had things go wrong. At ten thousand miles the bearings went and he even had problems with shifting. He got the bearings all replaced free of charge, they changed out most all his sensors and his CDI, and after all that, the dealership actually told him to come back anytime and they would help him out with anymore problems his had at a discounted rate simply b/c they had never seen a bike with as many miles as he had put on it..... He currently has 16K+ miles on in and its still running good.... so I think it has to do with the dealership too...... personally I have dealt with some crappy dealerships that have given me a hard time and I have gotten to the point where I drive over an hour to get to a Honda shop I like even though I have a Honda garage 5 miles from my house..... Unfortunately crappy dealerships can tarnish an excellent brand of bikes like Honda.

I bought a honda rancher 400 in 04. what a piece of junk. the honda dealer put 2 motors, 4 tranys, and when i took it back after a tenn. trail ride,,, which i rode 9 miles after getting it out of the shop, and the wiring harness was bad. so i traded it for a king quad 700. what a different bike. but anyway, i had to call honda customer support and they contacted the dealer and had it fixed, because the dealer wasn't wanting to fix it. just something you might want to do. i raised heck and they had it fixed, i told them honda was supposed to be the leader in the industry, so give me my money back or fix it. might help

Don't buy the an extended warranty if the Dealership offer's to sell it to you , it's not a genuine Honda warranty just don't fall for the salesmans telling that when Original Honda warranty exspire's you won't be covered by Honda l

The Local Honda where we live tried the sell my brother the extended warranty that they told him they were the only one who could sell this warranty , he declined and 3week's he recieved the letter from Honda Factory extended warranty ; for less than half of the one from the Local Dealership offered and one extra year than the Dealership !

Last summer he bought a Honda V model 1300cc touring Bike at Southern Honda Of TN , and they tried to same thing my brother said no thank's he would wait on Honda to seng him the Origina Honda Factory warranty for half what the Dealer offered + 1 extra year ; Southern Honda told him the same line about the warranty !

He got a letter from Factory for the warranty , so he took the lieter and stuck it in his face ; so don't buy unless the know the Dealer and he or she tell's you to wait for the Factory offered warranty that's what my Dealer told me not ro buy untill i got the cat ccare warranty !............

I've never had a brand new bike, but I kinda figured it worked like that. I'm more prone to say no to the extended warranty, maintain something as best I can, And try to tackle future repairs myself.
