Default Just installed a Detroit Gearless Locker

I finally installed a Detroit Gearless Locker in my 2000 Rancher last weekend. I was amazed how easy the install was. A buddy and I spent about 2 hours installing the locker. No machine work is necessary for the DGL 2.

Honda's 3 Wheel Drive is a thing of the past. During my test run, I was totally amazed with how well it worked in deep mud. The Rancher would crawl through just about anything I threw at it. You can definitely tell the front end is locked when in 4 wheel drive but it is very easy to steer in 2WD. I'm glad I have my 424 to use in conjunction with the locker. I did do some hard trail riding in 4 wheel drive and it did not steer too hard. Two wheel drive is definitely easier though. With my bike's current set-up, I'm really happy with the locker and highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys riding in the mud.

Glad to share. I'm extremely happy with it (and the 424) and it'll put a smile on your friend's face if he goes with it.

Glad to hear, i'm running the highlifter spool in the front of my Foreman, the traction is fantastic, and even with the 424 in 2wd steering is harder but not enough to complain about. Glad to hear the DGL2 is a good unit...one might find its way into my bike sometime.

It looks like I'll be putting a spool in my cousin's 300. It should work pretty well for him. I would like to see him get the 424 also.

Pat, your Rancher is setup pretty much how I'd like mine if I were to start throwing on some goodies. I'd imagine just running around in 2wd the 26s don't have much affect at all on the power with the mods you have. I mainly run a whole lotta woods trails and pipelines at times, but when I do get down in the swamp bottoms I really could use some extra clearance along with meatier treads and a DGL up front.

You pretty satisfied with your setup for general riding?

I'm very happy with my set-up. When I got the highperformance kit, it pretty much restored the power-loss from the tires but the clutch kit totally corrected it. Plus, the Bugs are light-weight tires. Have fun modding your bike!
