Default honda 250 2004 Model shifting problem

My 4 wheeler will shift from 4th to 5th or from 5th to 4th but that is it.

I tried the manual shifter, but it will not shift anything.

I am thinking since the manual shift does not work that it must be something other than the electronics, am I right on this?

In help would be appreciated.

I have it in the shop but seems like they want to try out all the electronic stuff.'

Thanks

I visited with the shop yesterday and they had changed to quote to $964, 745 of it was for labor.
The rest for parts.

Something like a shift arm etc.
I left the paper at home with the specifics, I can add those Monday.
Anyway they found the problem inside the engine.

Thanks
Mike

The part they are replacing is the swingarm gearshift. They are also going to replace the rings.
