When Stabil is left in fuel too long, it forms beads and a jelly like bead compound.
Then after it sets like this for a while it gets hard causing chunks of dried beads.
I need to know what will break this stuff down
I have a tank filled with this stuff and can't break it down.
I have tried :
- Fresh Stabil
- Carb Cleaner
- Carb dip
- Mineral spirits
- Paint reducer for acrylic paint
- Gas
- Diesel
- Toulene
- Xylene
... to soak this stuff
WHAT IN THE HECK BREAKS THIS STUFF DOWN ??
help

Try "Techron" concentrate fuel injector cleaner by Chevron. Be sure and get the concentrate. It is amazing stuff. I have even used it to clean the sticky fuel gauge float in my diesel pick-up, when it sets too long with a full tank. I use it in my other vehicles twice a year for injector and fuel system cleaning. It says it is safe even for 2-stroke though I haven't used it in my snowmobiles. For them I use Sea-foam.

Glimpster the Sea Foam should disolve the staybil , but i would remove the tank and pour out as much as you can of the old fuel ; then pour some Sea Foam into the tank and pour some fresh fuel into the tank !
Then it will take an overnight soaking with the Sea Foam , the Sea Foam will disolve it ; it will just take over night to do it the stabil mixed fuel is suppose to be drained when stored from one season to the next that's why i use the Sea Foam now instead of the stabil !....

I used Stabil in my skidoo one winter only about 2 years ago put it in in April, stored the sled until November. By that time the gas/stabil turned to gel in the carbs and would hardly run at all. Had to completly dissassemble both carbs to clean and flush the tank and lines. I have never used Stabil in the sled previously or since then, and have never used it in the bike with no ill effects.
I just store said vechicle with what ever gas was left in the tank (typically under 1/4 tank - tanks are plastic) then on the first run I top off the tank with fresh supreme gas and 1/2 bottle of carburator cleaner that you mix with the gas. Never had a problem in 10 years following this procedure, for kicks I took the carb apart on the bike and found it squeaky clean like the day it was made!!!
