Default Rebuilding a trx250R rear shock. Help needed!

Hey guys.

I have a 1986 TRX250R rear shock i got off ebay its in really bad condition. Has alot of crud and scratches on it, the hose from the reservoir to the shock is dry rotted and the metal ends of it that attach to the shock and the reservoir are rusted. I want to rebuild the shock and replace the hose with a new one. Anyone know who made the rear shocks back then? Also i'm wanting to powerder coat the shock and the spring to match my bike has anyone done this?

A lot of places rebuilding shocks these days if you don't mind spending the money. I just sent my rear to GTThunder for a rebuild/new spring. I shipped it on a Friday and received it back the next Friday. The shock was spot on right out of the box for the riding I do too! IMHO, having someone that knows suspension set up the shock for your machine/weight/riding style is worth the coin. Otherwise even quite a few dealers can recharge a shock these days. I have seen springs and shock bodies powdercoated, usually looks real nice.

GT Thunder I got the high flow piston, the whole thing was a touch under 600.00 bones to my door. I don't know if they offer a powder coating service. So far I am extremely satisfied with the shock and wish I would have done the fronts now too. There are other places doing rebuilds as well. TCS does them, Derisi Racing, Works Performance, Hygear Suspension to name a few.
