Yeah I know thats what my dealer said but I always use 92 Octane gas. So it must be the valves.
I was also thinking that if you adjust the valves you might want to adjust the cam chain.

If you take the cover off on the motor you will see the cam chain and it should have a little dot on the top sprocket and another little dot on the engine above that cam chain dot.(these are the timing marks) if you line these two dots up you will be on the compression stroke
and thats when you know to adjust your valves. To turn the cam chain take the spark plug out(very important step) and rotate the engine by hand using the pull cord. Then when the timing marks are inline you can adjust the valves.

HeHeHe...
I wasn't aware that it was going to snow and then rain. It turned my workshop (the backyard) into a swampy mess so I am waiting for a drier day.

Well I finally adjusted the valves. All in all it went pretty smooth. I found out you can remove the gas tank without taking off the front fender, but its rather awkward, esp the reassemble the fuel line was a major pain to get back on. My valves were about .005 inch out of spec or roughly double what they should have been. After the adjustment I was able to start out in 3rd gear from a dead stop and could hear no clacky sound. I also replaced the spark plug since it was so easy to get to at the time. It took a little over an hour, but a good deal of that was trying to figure out a good way to get those pesky plastic fastners off, and squeezing the fuel tank back into place.
