Default carb cleaned still backfireing

I just got my bike back from the dealer. I got them to clean the carb and something with the foot break. I rode it around in 3rd gear and when I let off the gas it backfired or a very loud pop. The bike seams to get hot really quick. I toke the sparkplug out and the tip of it is black and the first threads to. I rode the next day and it dident backfire. So am I running lean or rich?

Where is the air/fuel mixture screw at. Is it covered with a silver cap on the left side of the bike. How much do I have to turn the screw and witch way.

Sounds rich to me, but I'd have the dealer do it so it's done right and covered by any warranty.
