Default 87 250x coughing at low RPM

I bought an 87 250x a few weeks ago. It has a White cam in it. The guy said it wasn't a radical cam. The thing starts and runs great. But it coughs and sputters at low RPM. It seems to like the high RPM range but I don't want to run it that way. I'm in it for pleasure riding, not racing. Is there an easier fix to this than putting the original cam back in ? (I have it). Can I re-jet it maybe? If so, what size?

Whats the story on the exhaust and intake setup?

might want to go back to stock.. ever hear cars that are set up for drag... they suck at idle, but once they start moving they roar!

you could try a dial a jet and see if you can get it tuned right

could be totally non cam related too, maybe carb is gummed up or not jetted right, maybe air filter is dirty,

I suppose it could be carb related and maybe nothing to do with the cam. The exhaust is stock. I mean, it's really not bad and I can ride it like it is but it is just a little annoying.
